He has been an influential politician for anti- Sikh Program
post assassination of Indira Gandhi in 1984.
He received a jail term for “remainder of this natural life”.
Political leader often provoke riots and political patronage is used for their
protection. Decades pass in delivering justice, and this needs a strong legal
system.
Indian Judicial system lacks in addressing the crime against
humanity and genocide. These are loopholes and need an urgent attention.
Other Examples of Familiar pattern of killing
The anti- Sikh Riot is not only one incident, there have
been familiar cases of mass killing for example during 1993 in Mumbai, In Gujarat
2002, in Odisha, in Muzaffarnagar in 2013.

The basic nature of these crimes targeted minorities. Sajjan
has been found guilty of a role in the killing of six Sikhs by mobs led by Congress
on 1 Nov 1984. He promoted criminal conspiracy, promoting enmity between
different groups on ground of religion. With him, there are other MLA’s are
also got punishment.
1984 Sikh Riots
According to official estimation 2,733 Sikhs were killed in
Delhi and 586 in other parts of India between November1, to 4, 1984. So far 444
accused have been sent to jails- 50 were sent to life and one to death in
November 2018. Police personnel have been punished as well.
When Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated on 31st
October 1984 by her Sikh Body guard, this provoked riots for four days and many
Sikhs were killed.
Administrative Failure
During that time administration did not control the situation,
and Policemen – who are now in Jail were also involved. Four days have been one
among the darkest incident in Indian History.
Earlier, the case was hear by the Delhi’s district Court and
Sajjan was acquitted. Later in December 2018 Delhi high Court has given life
term for Sajjan.
